RENDERING...Q&A and GALLERY

@Dromang
Great render, very realistic

On that detailed picture, this metal part, you also create texture for it or is it ARX library material?

Nice work Cain! It is looking even MORE beautiful in red than the original version. You have perfected your skills buddy .... <from a former co-worker

The nozzle piece has a bump map I created from a pic of brushed stainless. I believe I used cylidrical placement to get that look.

I have color maps and/or bump maps on every part, some barely noticeable.
Someone posted earlier that in the real world surfaces are never perfect, and that seems to be one of the pitfalls of rendering. Perfectly reflective surfaces can be great if your trying to showcase an idea, but if you are going for realism it never works. I believe that all of the subtle details are what make the difference, the details you don't notice right away and that we subconciously pick up on that make the diffence.
I am a total novice at rendering, I learn something new every time I render an image. ProE makes it easy to get good results. Knowing something about photography helps as well, for lighting and some of the detailed effects.

Thanks, DG

Here is a turbo intake system I made for a company. I posted it a little while back unrendered for an example but thought I would post it rendered. Hope you like.

@Cain

Nicer render, as always ;)

Here is mine, I have worked in September, but until now I didn't have time to upload it here:

Thanks Cain

Yes I have finally finish it, and hand over to my professor, and he was delighted with project; well I added some pretty pictures from ProMechanica stress analysis of hook and wear, and of course on front page was this rendered picture

This was render from WildFire 3.0, and I have finaly started to use textures, this yellow paint is actually a texture made in PS, not a ProE material from graphic library.

As you have said before, from some reason render do look better with texture material

I'm sure alot of people never saw this car so I thought I would post it. This is very old, the render and the model are over two years old. This was my first attempt at surfacing and very new to rendering. moved down

Well, seems this thread has come to an end so I figured I would postmost of my models that I worked on during this threads life. It was this thread and this great group of guys that motivated me to do alot of these and more. Thanks for stickin around...model everything you see.

Hi CP

you really do havetalent there. Fantastic images. Your textures and colours are truly amazing. I have tried so many times to create a nice looking render, but fail every time. I supose its all down to time and experiance of pro-e. I would like to thank you, and all the other guys who have given me advice throughout this thread. If it was'nt for all of you, I would have never learned to use the Style or Render functions. If anyone could point me to a good colour and appearance data base and give me some advice on how to create "smoke" effects using lights, that would really be great. Again, CP very nice images, very well done.

Steven

I do not work as much with pro-e anymore as much as I would like too... perhaps a new years resolution for me should be to put more effort into learning more features.

It would be a shame to see this thread dissapear, because this was also one of the first threads I started reading regarding pro-e that made me want to learn the software and motivated me to start my first modelling and renders.

Awesome renders Cain, the black/yellow combo on the mustang works very nice ! Keep up the good work and hopefully I will get the chance to help you keep this thread alive & kicking for 2007 !!!!

It's been a tremendous thread, lots of tips andtricks etc have been divulged by many, more experienced users for the rest of us to learn from.

Thanks CP and all who have contributed to this great thread!

Cheers guys,

Lee74

Thanks for all the compliments and comments over the years. I will continue to post works in here as long as I am still doing them. I will also continue to visit the modeling forum to help where I can. Have a happy new year everyone.

CPiotrowski -

Excellent work - you do right to show it off. Can I just ask you - which rendering packages did you use for the Bulter robot? And how long did it take you to get up to this sort of level? Are you mostly self-taught?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

Every model in these images were done in 1.0 or 2.0 and rendered with the ARX upgrade. I've been rendering with Pro-E for about three years now. Thanks for the compliments.
