RENDERING...Q&A and GALLERY

Hi all. I was playing with ARX and take a look at my new render of old model. What do you think?

I think your not looking hard enough

, pjw, Miko`s link is to a Rar file, you have to unzip it... if you dont have WinRar, just type it into google and get the free download, its basically the same as WinZip.

Miko, awesome render. Amazing what the difference is between this version and the old versions that we have seen

Thank you for compliments.. I am very glad to "hear" it

..It took me few hours to render it but pity is that I am not able to upload high resolution picture here...Asyou knowthere aresome details.

Yes CP...I was definingrefletion and refraction as well..For first I was eventrying to use glass from Photolux library but it was not so good...I have define antialiasing and Ray Trace as well....and the biggest problem for me was the lights with combination of floor because there is all very bright... I was thinking about that I could use little darker floor or just some wood but...

pjw: Of course I use perspective view

I spent about ten minutes with photoshop to check photo realism with the belair render, I realize it could be better but not too bad for ten minutes in PS cutting and pasting.

Wonderful render, glass is perfectly real

Now I have render again my hand winch, and I run into strange problems, while rendering in draft or in high quality, shadows were there, but when I switched to maximum quality shadows were gone. Then I figure it out, that room and the light must be created at the same session, otherwise shadows weren't in render picture.

I know that it would be much better if I create some metal textures, not just using photolux library colors, but I have other obligations, and my computer is to slow for test renders (each test render; in draft quality it takes about 5 min), and playing with textures and lights.

Here it is:

Thanks, I think it really helps to show the car is very close to photorealistic. Thats a great render ISAIR, the grey paint looks awesome! The only problem I see is that the background doesnt look as real as the render because of the jpg image loss. I would say make the same render with a flat white wall to show off the mechanism. I think it will look much better. Or, find a texture or make one that looks better up close.

I am really REALLY impressed with the quality of renders and images that we are seeing throughout this thread now. Wildfire 3.0 seems to have improved the capabilities of Pro-e a lot.

CP, Miko and Isair all deserve a round of applause, great work. Isair, I agree with CP, its the jpeg compression of the background which lets your image down, the render of the mechanism looks fantastic, paintwork very realistic too, but replacing the background will improve it a lot im sure.

And... CP, thats excellent work in Photoshop too, and it really brings home the realism of the render when you add something else to the image. Fantastic !

Skint: Thanks :) but I dont have WF 3.0 .. I am working with WF 2.0 M120..
Isair:thanks ...and your render is nice too!
CP: Nice legs ;-)... It was only 10 minutes of work to add your legs in PS?...hmm..pretty powerful..anyway... great idea how to be closer to realism.. and Thank you very much for hosting CP!... :)

Looks like there are some textures on the plastic.
After teaching an Alias Studio Month and playing w/ rendering with real procedural
tools like Alias Studio, I can't wait to experiment with WF 3.0 mapping and textures.

dromang: Where do you
work? And is that render on the left rendered on a
bitmap? Cracks look great and toned down some from the
right. Impressive. That is WF3.0

I put a very slight texture on the plastic to make it look like a glass filled material.
The background is actually a high res TIF file, I took the photo of some cracked concrete from a garage floor, and used it for both the color map and the bump map.
Here are a few of a different background, and a closeup.
I work for Gray Matter Design, we do contract Product Design, and Engineering.
Yes the cracked surface on the right was bit too much. All of these have been done in WF 2.0, I haven't installed 3.0 yet.View attachment 2563View attachment 2564
