Some surfaces behaviour makes me confused

it is really not hard to model this. However it is really nice to see how quite model can be achieved within few basic surfacing tricks.

Any input in pleaed to come

not quite just "cute" - my mistake

crap. I just photographed the crap out of my airplane seat interiors. I missed this thread when it was going. I remodeled the bionic finger with the new Surface Edit tools.

crap or not - was enuogh worth to pay my attention rather then watching this "dancing - bouncing" wings colored with green faces of people while airplane was landing in Wroclaw

considering bionic finger - small pic?

I am playing with camtaisa all day today (and last night too) and have problems with sound. I think I figured out who to extract sound and increase volume

back then in wabco guys from Hanover used to use Camtasia to catch all tricky procedures in PDMLINK to follow - i.e save a copy and rename for generics, instances. Tiffs reproduction. There were plans inspired by this to do same with Pro/Enginner. Me - as main Pro/E supporter in Wroclaw - was considered to do that.

However instead of "basics of modeling, assembly..." I wanted harder issues to address - proper model structure, horizontal modeling elements in models, Resolve mode, etc.

In the end it all ended in meeting where poeple were much more pleased to watch and here live presentation. That how it is with lazy people.

I wish I would be such lazy guy and have extra, mega expert here in office to lay everything down within small steps.

I consider "text notes" in camtasia as enough to explain sequence or major flow of the tutorial. However it demands twice or more effort and time to last with such movie.

btw - what is the weather in Ireland james. I`ve just returned from Polish see and had an opportunity to "taste" piece of kryoterapy(I mean temperature of water was less than desired)

The temprature was enough - 26 - 28C, no wind, extra conditions for june. There I noticed front hood of Opel Corsa D, which pull my attention. I have a task for next days

I take pictures of automobile light reflections every day that I notice so I can incorporate one more model into my surfacing classes. There is always one guy that excels past the others that can get excited to see modeling techniques learned in the week utilized on a live example.

as far as text notes, I guess I should give away a lot of techniques but not all. ;) I have to make some ploy for designers and engineers. Besides that is one of the complements we get from the training.. how much people learn in sketcher mode, fail mode ... the list goes on.

uploading a video now on the bionic finger that uses the new surface edit functions of wf4.0 This is really cool stuff and what i used to make the face while sitting at the LAX airport waiting on my flight back from the world conference.

I figured out how to modify the Camtaisia sound track to crank up the volume.

this mouse still does not look as expected and I don`t mean it lacks some further details.

I am not happy with transition on the side. I have to rethink this once again.

If You do have any suggestions - as usual - put it here

what really pissed me of was round at the front, which I tried to do as below

the point is BB does not want to be finalized. There is this item with red cross, there is no error message. All curves intersect with each other. I do do not know what is going on...

looking good Jacek! 3 sided surf at the back?

yeap, but that was intended, because I did not want to waste time on not important details

You see I wanted first to make top surf with VSS but finaly I was not satisfied with results and decided to create extra curve seen in first pic

then I trimed top and made rear side surf by BB(3nd). But this could be easly improved to 4nd, no problem with that.

yeah the front corners are never nice to do! I've just finished one and I think I built the front corner 4 or 5 times before I was happy with it!

All that I can say is to simplify it! get the side surface to do what you want it to do - i.e. wrap around the front. then trim the top surf back to the edge whereit blends around the side and continue the trim so it runs smoothly around to the front. then blend from the top to the front, then put in your corner.

how the top transitions around the back and onto the side is one of the MOST important details!

well I guess I did as You suggest

ok, let me introduce single steps

*first I created two rounds to have curves

*then I made BB between them, which finaly plays the role as main round

then I created by "Project" neccessary curves

*then one extra curve on surface and one common betwee points to obtain following curves network for corner round

but BB fails each time I want to close those curves with surface

small change one can say, but it can help

thanks in advance, because I am afraid I won`t try it today.

There are some e-amil ahead of me to write and tomorrow I should join to my family at see and spend whole week on kryotherapy
