ProE rendering.. I think I like it..

hmm good question.. I can't really remember to be honest.. I think I simply used a dark grey (quite dark approaching black) and then it was actually the lighting that "brightened" it up..

I havent got time to check for sure now but I will tomorrow..

Hi guys,

I think that is not the right forum, but I think also that their are only professionals at the moment.

My problem is that I have installed Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 till about 6 months. Worked fine till yesterday, but now it works only if I have connected the network cable. Then I have disinstalled it and know I'm not able to install twice, only if I connect the cable. What went wrong ?

thanks a lot,

jochen

sim@ congratulations it is perfect and relay nice render

Keep it good working like this one

sim@ .. very nice! looks great! can I ask if the text (MO58) is extruded normal to the surface and if it was how did you do it?

the glass looks great!

James

thanks guys

answering your question James: yes, the text is extruded normal to the surface.

1. Create a curve - text MO58

2.Pick surface and then offset command.

3.In the offset command pick from slide bar 'draft offset'

4.Define a sketch - pick a sketching plane the same which were sketching plane for text, pay attention to the direction of yellow arrow

5.Being in sketch mode choose 'use edge > loop' command andtheearlier created sketch - text MO58.Exit sketch mode.

6.Define the height of extrusion, from options- 'normal to surface', draft angle was 3 degrees

cheers

sorry for being not enough precise. Crete the text on the default plane. In my case it was 'front' datum plane. You don't have to project curve (the text) on surface.

ohh not a bother.. it was my ignorance! never knew you could do that with the offset feature! was just playing around with it! Love it!

Thanks! Back to rendering!

I'm going to keep this in this post for th etime being because I think it's most relevent to the people reading this post ...

I'd be interested to know, if anybody has played around with DAO (Design Animation Option) I think again it has a bad rep (similar to that of ARX which I think we have collectively gone a long way to restoring I think!
smiley4.gif
) so I was wondering if anybody has created any really good animations?

again if you think about what ProE has traditionally created wrt to renderings, I think the ones on this post are quite a bit better! so has anybody created any animations "quite a bit better" to what we are used to seeing?

I'm of the opinion that there is enough control of the actual components within DAO especially if used with MDX, and taking advantage of transparency at time, display at time, BUT (and I think this deserves a new sentence)

I THINK VIEW AT TIME IS TERRIBLE!! the interpolation is terrible, I think it's all just terrible!

but then again I though room set up was terrible? maybe I'm missing something!

I think that a fantastic addition would be to be able to sketch a curve (2d or 3d) attach a camera to that curve, shift snap the camera target to a component/edge/vertex and simply give it a motion driver (similar to a slot follower connection in mechanism) I think this should be basic functionality.. I put this question to Rick Leeds who is one of the PLM's for Assemblies and DAO and he responded that I should submit an enhancement request and it will have to get looked at, but maybe not implemented.. bu it would if there was enough people behind it!

should this be a venture people think we should look at, I'll create a new post, see who is behind it (maybe get one of the nice new User Polls going if the administrator releases it?) and see if we can get them to do something about it!

what'd ye think?

What PTC needs to do is come up with better documentation for these smaller modules that don't get used much.

I messed with animation about 5-6 years ago and it just frustrated the *beep* out of me because of no documentation.

One feature that's been around for as long as I can remember is Pro/Fly Thru, what an awesome product but lack of documentation.

In PTC's defense, I think they came alongway since Wildfire came out with documentation for the other different modules.

If PTC would just cover some tutorials on these smaller ( more fun) modules it would probably spark more interest to use them instead of the I have no time to sit there and mess around with this.

I'd aggree! some of the stuff the smaller modules can accomplis are fairly impressive! The problem is tho' that when talking to Rick Leeds aboutupdates to DAO, one of thethings he said cought my attention and that was "you've got to understand it's not our core business" .. a point I do take!

but then on the other hand, I know that many engineering departmemnts are being asked for nice renderings and animations by marketing and companies are investing quite a bit of cash in buying the likes of Maya and 3DS MAX.. it can take quite a bit of time then also to optput yoru files to an acceptable level of detailusing STL or .obj files, then you have to do the likes of recreating all of your conections etc..it think it would be nice to have one inegrated package. and I'm not sure how much DAO is but ARX is under a grand.. a lot cheaper than MAX! add to that the time saving and you end up with a fairly good cash saving!

sounds like good business to me!

about the documentation, you are right! it needs to be improved in a few areas but I dont think the ID side of things (rendering included, DAO excluded) is one of them, I know PTC has spend quite a bit of time and money developing it in the past few years.

I must look into Fly through.. th eonly place I've seen it was when seting up perspective but havent played with it too much!

more comments plesae..
