RENDERING...Q&A and GALLERY

Cpiotrowski,

Ignore the PM i sent you I figured it out thanks, but canI ask where do you get yourcolors from are you just creating your colors on the fly?

I The above render was rendered at work with the standard photorenderer and no materials library. I am gonna render it at home tonight.

Here is a model that I did at another site for a 3hr fast modeling competition. The theme was household robot. The judging hasnt taken place yet. This was just rendered with basic photorenderer so the line quality isnt that great. This is my example of modeling for fun. THis is kinda what I had in mind for our little competition. modeling time: 2hrs. 20min.

Hi CP. hmm .. Yes this is nice robot. How did you create the head of robot? Did you use warp function? I used WARP function to create something like that

... When I started the warping it was a simplerevolved egg. But after the extremewarping...

Simple but powerful enough

Was that competition on other site based on ProE or any software?
I think that this kind of competition you have in mind when you suggested it here, am I right?
Only few hours to create your model, render it post pic on forum, just for fun, no engineering things in modeling?

Yes, I used warp to make the head. Kinda like what you have there MIKO.

This is on a 3DS site. I am the only person that I have ever seen on it for Pro-E.

Just a thought and I don't know if it's been mentioned before (as I haven't been able to access the thread), but it may be a good idea to have two catergories, one for Photorender and one for ARX as I get the vibe that not all of us have access to the fullpackage.

Keep up the good work everyone!

I'm sure it will be a possibility. I added a colored image of the Robot up with the others so scroll up. That was rendered in the regular photorenderer, it doesnt do that bad of a job. I also didnt have any materials or time to mess with it.

See if you can tell which was done in regular and which was done with upgrade.

I am fixing the floor now and a few other things. This was first pass.

Yes I agree with Miko, second one is definitely ARX, but this is easy to guess just because of room. If you could render both with only white background then it would be a challenge to guess which one is ARX and which one is Photorender

CP
I like the trick you made with robot eyes

Miko nice wood textures

Thats a nice texture on that MIKO. Next time dont render the room so the background is black. Put a spotlight behind the model pointing towards the camera so the light makes a subtle outline around the globe. Should look like a planet.

CP thats awesome, I wish I had ARX now

Seems you are quite skilled with photoshop too, another software package I only know little about. You have some talent mate, keep it up

!!

For some reason engineers know little about photoshop.

One stumbling block for me setting up a websitegalary (for engineers to show
or share their work in a websume form) caleld websume... We completed most of
the programming however have been reluctant to unveil for this one reason.
If an engineer had some pictures to post they hardly know what 72 dpi means and
do not know how to manage some simple functions in photoshop. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><O:p></O:p>

When we do supper realistic textures the key to getting it up a notch is to use
photoshop and layer other textures or death or blur on the edges to help one
focus onto the item being sold. I want to encourage each engineer on the forum
to mess with photoshop for a few hours. <O:p></O:p>

Mess with and understand dots per inch or DPI. The internet sits at 72dpi because
that is what most monitors are set too. When you go to print you usually try to get
300 dpi. Large posters on the expressway may go higher. The more dots the
better the image.<O:p></O:p>

Mess with height and width. And don't skew the image.keep you image manipulation
proportional. Don't modify the height separate forum length.<O:p></O:p>

Mess with layers. This is key <O:p></O:p>

Mess with masks. This is important for selections and the wand tool. Those who
save their selections out can re-grab that selection later for more manipulation.
ie. I forgot to set my floor reflections or reflection is to high. If I do two renders
from the exact same camera I can later in post production using photoshop to
marry the reflection using opacity settings. Just alow the mask or outline of one
very shinny floor to blend with another rendering with zero reflection in the floor.
You might have another layer with some ripples so you can muddy up the reflection
some. That is three layers total. This is the secrete to hi-end renders! <O:p></O:p>

I suggest messing around a little with photoshop. And don't mess with anything
else because photoshop is industrry standard and everything else is subpar.

CP... Best of luck mate, your in for a medal I think.

design-engine, some good points mentioned. Photoshop is not an easy package to learn, like all professional packages, unless you have access to all manuals and proper training etc. Also, I would only assume that a lot of people on this forum possibly have never even heard of photoshop let alone used it
smiley36.gif

I have been involved with a small amount of marketing so I have used photoshop just enough to get the job done, just enough to get what I needed from it. Same goes for Illustrator, both difficult packages to simply play with.

You guys, like CP have one or both of these things :1. Too much free time or 2.A hell of a lot of spare energy
smiley36.gif
How do you learn so much lol.

Anyways, I have to go. Today I start my practicing with surfaces

, wish me luck !!

no kidding I feel like I have been exhausting myself the last 2 years learning as much pro as I could on the job and at home

I would rank photoshop right up there with pro on the amount of learning needed to become great at it

having yet to look at any tutorial or training manual the most i have done with it is resize photos and convert to jpegs I look at all the options and icons and feel more overwhelmed than i did when i started pro-e

Ps CP why does your robot look so sad?
