another fantastic render. The wood grain on the handle is out of this world, is it all one part or is it made up from a number of parts that you have coloured in different shades? I see now that the difference between my images and other images is the attention to the tiny details, look likeI have a long long way to go to get any where close to your and Lee's work. The work you guysdo is trulyamazing
Thanks guys for the positive feedback, as I said in an earlier post, I used the Highlighter pen as a training exercise to see if I could efectively implement what I had learned so far from the ISDX manual I had aquired.
CP, Can t wait to see your progress on the Bel Air, I used to love those cars when I was a kid. Great render of the Utensil too, the wood and satinless steel effects are fantastic!
Stevenqneuk, Before I got hold of the ISDX manual I just played at it, but then with the manual, the pennies started to drop more and more.
As far as dimensions go, I'm with you on that, things have to be in proportion eh! (I had to measure the pen to the best of my ability with the tools available, vernier/radius gauges etc).
I found myself using datum planes & datum curves outside of ISDX to help me dimensionally control the ISDX features themselves. Anyway, I hope the link came in handy, good luck!
Skint, Cheers bud for the comments, unfortunatly I've only got the standard render package to work with.
Hey, does anybody know if the standard render package in WF3 will have any improvements over the WF2 version?
Hey Lee, wow if you managed to get that level of detail and accuracy in the render with only the use of standard renderer then that brings hope to us all
You posted earlier that you decided to model the text etc, how did you get the lettering so accurate aswell as the small logo ?
Yeah, I know what you re saying about the std render package, but if that's all we have, that's all we have eh!? I just tried to achieve the best look I could really, given the tools at my disposal.
I literally scanned the text on the pen then took it into Pro, then I applied it as a decal to the surface I wanted to model the text. I then used ISDX to create the appropriate curves to create the cut. Simple as that really.
At the end, you just renove the decal from the surface.
Thanks for the great comments guys. you would be surprised how complicated it is to get a spoon to transition from the bowl to the handle. To answer your question, this is just one part, 54 features. It took me about 2 hrs to model because I kept changing things plus this is the first time I have ever tried to model a spoon from my head. Glad you all like.
CP as i always say ur the best man oout here and lee tht was damn good man i havent got tht kind of render i need a help from u all pros out there i know u have explained me this before but iam not getting this stuff right can u guys tell me how can i apply decals i dont wanna know the whole procedure but the thing is tht when i create a decal in PS and try to apply on the surface the background also get apply on the surface for eg if i have a white background and a red color text written on it and i wanna apply it on the blue color surface the thing i get is tht when i apply it the white color background get applied along with the red color text i wanna make the background transperent so tht it could merge with the surface i hope u guys got my point wat i wanna say plz do try to tell me how can i do this stuff
And Isair good to hear ur comments u CP, Skint, Lee are as active as u were before ur moving this forum really well i really miss my pro-e very much and one more thing gr8 to read abt the CP's new system i hope we could get to see more great images from the great man
Skwasim, the easiest way to apply a decal without having to match the background color is to create the decal with the background color in the image. That way when you apply the decal it will cover the entire part or surface. Then if you need to rest of the model the same color just create a texture with the exact same background color that hte decal has without the writing.
This render has three different textures applied to the body. One for the hood, one for the roof and one for the entire car. I used the same color that is in the background of the hood as the color for the rest of the body, just different textures applied planar.
To get transparency on your decals you need to create an alpha channel, I generally open the decal in the image editor within proE then save the decal as a TX4 file and tick the alpha channel box. If i remember correctly that should solve your problem.
I've tried to achieve transparency when applying a decal as per you last post, I managed to get transparency of sorts but it's not quite perfect, see visual below...View attachment 1957
The original file was a Jpeg consisting of a completely white background, I opened it up as per your suggestion, created the alpha channel (I'm not quite sure what the settings for this should be) I ticked the alpha channel in the dropdown menu, then saved as a TX4.
The result as you can see above is not quite right. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, but if you can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the models by the way, a render is in progress, I'll post when it's ready.
As for the decal, from within Photoshop try saving your decal as a TGA and use this file as your texture rather than the TX4 file. A TGA file has the alpha channel already in it.
Thanks all of u out there for the help i will try out this stuff hope it works for me now this time or else plz forgive me in advance if i came back with same prob hahahaha
Hey Cp where did u get tht texture i mean the red one on the floor thats real cool man plz tell me where i can down load or how can i make these kind of textures
Chrome is really a material that you need to mess with given what renderer you are using and what you are reflecting. I am constantly changing my chrome settings to the room.
I get most of my materials from searching the internet. Others I make in PS. THis particular texture I found on the internet. I dont have the file here at work.
