Wildfire 5.0

Few years ago did a trial for pro/Concept. Couldn't justify the cost to the higher ups but I thought it was great nonetheless. Anyway, I seem to remember being able to snap curves to images. Am I remembering wrong? This is the type of thing that ISDX needs to add to Trace Sketch.

No you can't actually snap a curve to an image in Pro/CONCENT but you can use the image to trace around much like one does in ISDX.

The maniken will also be available in WF4 from build M60. From what I've heard, there will be a maniken "light" that will be part of foundation (FXE) as well as mechanica light and manifacturing "light"(expert machinest).

I would very appreciate to have Perspective enabled in Design Animation Option module in Wildfire 5.0. It would give as much bigger chance to touch reality with Photolux renderer in animations. I love material editor what we have got with Wildfire 3.0 (easy to define complicated materials as glasses and chrome .... )and I like HDRi render capability in Wildfire 4.0 and easier working with textures in there. Transparency in DAO module was added in wildfire 3.0 I think. It wasgood step too. Am looking forward to see new features or capabilites in WF 5.0.

new n-sided surface with no singularities but no curvature continuity constrain (in isdx). smells like solidworks',catia's fill feature. does it support constrain sketches/curves?

It looks like its available today. Anybody try it yet? It'll probably take me all weekend to download it.

3.14 gb - this is going to take awhile

I tried clicking on the links from the software update page but all of them say File Not Found. Not ready for prime time yet.

I got that message also, but its working now.It seems like theres always hiccups on the download page when the new release comes out. Let's see... 4% down, I can practically see those curvature continuous rounds now.

Where do you get the download for WF5. When I go to the download software page, it only shows up to WF4

please upload the link you used.

I can't see it either. I remember the same BS with a previous release. I think I'm on the PTC sh!t list.

Anyone download WF5 pre production yet and play with it yet?I spent over 16 hrs pushing it hard this past few days at PTC.

Some impressive long overdue improvements with lots of new wildfireized modules.I did not get to push Pro/CABLE (the build was not ready for beta testing) nor RSD But pushed all the new tools of ISDX and Pro/SURFACE approximate offset.

My favorite new item (I suspect I can talk about that stuff since its all been published on PTC.COM already) is the analysis tool for Knots.Jeff and the surfacing guys will be interested to see that new analysis tool. Ive been asking for that for years...

My second new favorite item is the D1-D2 curvature rounds. imagine creating a variable G2 round?

The Dynamic Edit tool is cool and impressive. Solidworks is a dork tool in comparison. Basicly the dynamic edit tool is really like having preview without the yellow.

I pushed the new Surface Edit tools very hard as well (with the product line manager) and have created a special two day class for surface edit functions already. Ill add the new functions of WF5 and publish that as a class in the next month on proetools.com and welcome training partners of PTC resellers to sign up.

Some of the new WF3.0 and 4.0 assembly functions are new to me so pushing the new assembly stuff in wf5.0 was difficult without help.Guess I am not as good at assembly functions as I think I am. There is a new sub window that pops up for beginners for assembly options.

I mirrored a pattern too. Cool hu?I could not mirror a group of features that was patterned tho. ;(

you guys probably are not that interested in restyle (I am) and many of the new mods for restyle are just to being in the same icons and functions from ISDX into the tool. That will make it easier for ISDX folks to figure out that tool without a class since no one offers a class in restyle except for design engine.

Drawing mode has been completely wildfireized.... I will not comment much on it but wrote up many suggestions for interface enhancements with respect to workflow only. Ill be curious to hear what you guys think.

Over all an impressive release with many excuses to get your management to flip for the maintenance for upgrading. Too bad design engine is not a reseller because I could talk a whole bunch of folks into getting their maintenance up to date for that download.
