Modelling Competition 2006 - Suggestions.

Well I agree with most of thoughts here.

It is nice to know that we have support of administrator

since you are CM, and member since 2002 you should know who might be in PR, maybe put those people on list, PM them to see are they interesting and have enough time for this.

As for theme, it should be something that we can model within few hours.
No limitation to ProE package so everyone would have same terms and chance to win.

I know for a fact PTC is watching this thread. They
love this kind of press. Just to get that out of the way.

secondly: Lets get a purse up. Maybe we all put in 10 bucks like
when racing motorcorss so there is a pay out. Just a thought.

Thirdly: maybe we can get a sponsor like a prototype shop or two to make the
product at a small scale if it is furniture or full scale and ask them to put
up 2 thousand USD. everyone wants some publicity.

I offered to put up something. Cash or a class. Maybe this is a bad thing
if I want to enter too.

http://www.design-engine.com/stories/battleofthebands.htm < battle of the
bands was so much fun. We were able to get everyone together for the
final two hours. I could get Purdue ID team involved as they all use
Pro/E. I know because I did a 12 hours one day workshop there on
Saturday.

Remember this is fun and everyone wins even those who do not get 1st place.

Oh. and the judges should be able to look at the
models! and it would be cool if the models were put up on display
on mcadcentral or elesware.

Bart WOW! Sounds like a GREAT idea. Knowing that the arrangementsare not yet perfect, shouldn't we have a dry run first and then go for the gold?

I don't think anyone has done a competition like this before. And why should we do a dry run? We can all help out. Would be fun to look thru all the models. I bet PTC would be into giving a little cash to help out and for a purse. Design-engine.com could promote the thing as we have a large international audiance already.

I think it is starting to get serious, I am not sure if that was the intention ? What ever happens you can still count me in, I am still the pro-e noob so I will be using this as a learning curve more than a chance of winning $100 hehe

. I can only HOPE that the subject is easy for me lol.

Speling, just for the record. You get my vote too. I can only assume that this role requires time and repsonsibility and if you are willing toput your efforts into this then everyone thanks you

It is also god to know that PTC is reading this, and it would be nice that some one from them wrote some comments of this competition

As for me I know that I want to participate (I already have few ideas depending what would be the theme), and I'm ready to share model, picture, wrote how, why I model etc (everything we discus before).
I can help with suggestions, ideas, critics

how about starting a poll for who we want on the commitee

people who get listed and get votes may post that they wish not to be on it ------- very understandable time constraints and all

people who do not get listed and wish to be on it may post also

the list could start with everyone who has posted on this topic

i think doing 1 thing at a time will move things along if something else should be done first lets hear it

If people agree with above mentioned for internal communication and
internal consultations I suggests to Admin to open one topic

megaladon
Excellent ideafor poll

As I said before, you are here on forum since 2002, you know all VIP member so you should assemble list of VIP members that could be in committee, so we all can vote for them in poll that megaladon suggested.

Speling
Ok so let's forget about voting.
I was thinking all the time that all vip member are professionals and are serious, but then there isn't need for voting.

This is how I would do it if I know vip members here:
I would send e-mail to them, as well to administrators, explaining competition, with invitation to committee. Regarding to their respond I would create committee. If there would bee to much people then I would ask only ones that have enough free time and enthusiasm for this, and then if there would be to much people I would organized vip poll.

Lets try not to complicate things.

The competition was your idea, yes I know you didn't think something this big, but when people started with ides way doesn't give it a try.
