ProE rendering.. I think I like it..

better again! lots of time savers!

if only everything in pro was that simple..

or over 30,000 as is the case in this forum!

I gotta say I'm amazed at the level of detail you got with the advanced surface free form, can I ask what software you have a background in? Max? it's quite a strange way of modeling in Pro (I think anyway) I've use it for only a few conceptual tweaks..

Right now I design brakes for Honeywell. I really dont have any background at all in surface freeform. I actually taught myself pro-e 2001 and WILDFIRE, including everything I know to date. I have used 3DS but nothing too indepth. I am getting it within the next couple of days for rendering purposes, I still like modeling in WF. This was actually the second design of this car, the first time was a complete solid model with cuts and sweeps, that was my first car model. I guess I can post a pic of it here. There are obvious design flaws because at the time I was learing as I went and alot of stuff I didnt know how to do like the curve on the windshield. I basically started from nothing and made the car which isnt bad for throwing a program into a computer. Here it is anyway, the renders are old so that is why they dont look as good as the new design. I will psot a pic of both so youcan see the resemblence between the two. I also semi finished the interior in that version. Again, old, quick render, wasnt meant to look realistic and far from being complete

Thanks bro, i appreciate the compliment. What texture are you referring to, in which picture? I will give you whatever textures I have that you want.

hi CPiotrowski

your work is really great. how much time did you spend learning rendering to get to the current level?

can you post me too some textures? if requried i'll send you my e-mail address

thanks in advance

Guys you are great!, thanks for positing floor tips
smiley32.gif
now back to my work to finish it and then use yours tip to render it and post it here.

Great work CPiotrowski Even for that solid modeled car (a lot of work there must be done to model something like that)

That texture look great, and I love bump mapping

THanks guys. The texture on the floor is just a reflective bump map. Anyone who wants the textures that I have just send me a PM with your email and a request and I will send you my textures.

And to answer the time question...I have no idea how many hours i have spent rendering but I know its alot. That is why however I can help anyone with rendering I would be happy to so you dont ahve to go through all the sh*t that I did. My renders are far from realistic but nice enough to feel proud to show people.

thanks again for the great compliments. Here is a quick render with a bump map on the floor, no texture. I was trying some stuff with the wheel assembly so the render for that is not too good but this is only two lights, default directional and light bulb.

Very nice renders, I like the grey one. I would like to see the images in a higher resolution, itw ould really make them look nice. The wood on the first image is nearly perfect. could be a little shinier but very nice indeed.

yeah I played around with the shine but it started to look a bit plastic..

I rendered one of my first models (it came out terrible!) bu I said I'd post it anyway. I think it'd take quite a long time to get teh textures right firslty and then the lighting and the scene.. but anyway, when I have a bit more time (like a free week
smiley36.gif
) I might play around with it a bit more.

I know it crap but I'm sure I'll eventually get it right!

you are right, it takes lot of time to get proper lightning, textures etc. and combining all those things together to achive good rendered model. CPiotrowski said that he spend many hourssetting uprender and I suppose he sometimes was very furious as I am at the moment trying to render a water meter (I've got problem with top cover which should looklike as it was made of glass but it dosen't). Anyway what wecan do is practice and experiment with ourrendering settings to get the best results and get close to the CPiotrowski's skill level.

how about some tips on applying materials.. do yo uapply them at the part level os assembly level? do ye apply them to the part or the surfaces of the part? I think glass will only really work if applied to a solid part..

I think the tutorials available on the educational rescource library deals a bit with glass..

James

I apply materials on the assembly level. When I apllay material to the model on the part level and those part is one of the components of assembly, in assembly it (that part) dosen't have any material assigned to it or it can haveapplyied diffrent material undependet from part mode.Maybe I'm doing sth wrong but for the moment it is the only way.

Another pain is to apply a material in the assembly mode to a specified surface. You can only choose 'assembly surface'. Maybe you can handle with this.

Could you send an address of those tutorials?
